Pingdom is one of the oldest names in uptime monitoring, now part of
SolarWinds, and plenty of teams have trusted it for a decade. It is
also, as of July 2026, a paid-only product: the cheapest way to monitor
one site is $10 a month. This page is for deciding whether that's money
well spent for you.

## What does Pingdom cost and include?

As of July 2026, there is no free plan - only a 30-day trial (no card
required). The Synthetic Monitoring tiers start at $10/month billed
annually ($15 month-to-month) for the Starter plan: 10 uptime monitors,
1 advanced (transaction) check, and 50 SMS alerts a month, with
1-minute check intervals across all tiers. Real User Monitoring is a
separate product from $10/month.

Those are genuinely strong numbers. One-minute intervals mean a
five-minute outage almost certainly gets caught; SMS in the base price
is something most competitors gate behind bigger plans; and transaction
checks (scripted multi-step flows, like a login or a checkout) have no
equivalent on most budget monitors - including this one.

## How is YoPingMe different?

YoPingMe's free plan is the whole product today, and it makes a
different trade: slower intervals, no SMS, no transaction scripting -
and zero dollars, with every alert confirmed from a second region you
picked.

Read the table honestly. Pingdom detects faster and reaches your phone
by SMS; that's what the $120 a year buys. YoPingMe's bet is that for
most small sites, the alert that matters is "actually down, seen from
more than one region" - and that a false alarm at 3am costs more than
three extra minutes of detection time.

## When should you pick which?

**Pick Pingdom if** a few minutes of detection time has real cost for
you, you need SMS paging or scripted multi-step checks, or you want RUM
data from the same vendor. It is a mature product; the money buys real
capability.

**Pick YoPingMe if** you're paying $120+ a year mostly to know a small
site is up, you've been burned by single-location false positives, or
you want SSL expiry and keyword checks watched free while you decide
whether you need more.

## How do I switch?

Uptime monitors are small enough to recreate in minutes:

2. Recreate your uptime checks as HTTP checks; add keyword checks where
   you were asserting on page content. Transaction scripts have no
   YoPingMe equivalent - if a scripted login flow is load-bearing for
   you, keep Pingdom for that check.
3. Point alerts at email, a webhook, or Slack, run both side by side
   for a few days, then let the subscription lapse if nothing's
   missing.
