> Is iCloud down? Live status, uptime history, and per-region response times for iCloud, measured by our own probes every 2 minutes.

## How we check iCloud

We watch icloud.com from all five of our probe regions, every 2 minutes. A region that sees a failure does not make this page say "down" on its own: a second region has to agree first, the same confirmation rule every YoPingMe monitor uses.

We watch iCloud's own web host and pin the response an anonymous request receives, rather than assuming a 2xx. Apple's system status page lists dozens of services on one board, so an iCloud-specific reading is a narrower and more direct signal for the one most people mean when they ask whether iCloud is down.

The live board - the current verdict, 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day uptime, and per-region response times - is on the HTML page at https://yoping.me/status/icloud. Those numbers change too fast to repeat honestly in a static mirror, so where an answer below says "the board above", it means that page.

## What is iCloud?

iCloud is the storage and sync layer under a large share of what an
iPhone, iPad, or Mac does by default: photos, documents, contacts,
backups, and the account system a growing number of third-party apps
build on for sign-in and file storage. That breadth is why an iCloud
incident rarely stays contained to one obviously named feature, and why
it is worth being specific about what is actually failing before
assuming the whole thing is down.

Storage limits are the most common cause of trouble mistaken for an
outage. An account that has quietly filled up stops accepting new photos,
backups, or files without any obvious alert on some devices, and the
result looks exactly like a sync failure from the user's side while
iCloud itself answers every request normally. Checking available storage
in account settings resolves more reported "iCloud is broken" cases than
anything else on this list.

Third-party apps are the part of iCloud's footprint that is easy to
forget about entirely. Sign in with Apple and iCloud-backed file storage
are both built on the same backend that photos and backups use, which
means an application seeing sign-in failures or sync errors during an
iCloud incident is very likely experiencing that same incident rather
than a bug in its own code. Distinguishing the two starts with checking
whether the failure lines up with a period this page or Apple's own
status page shows as affected.

Account verification prompts are a frequent source of confusion that has
nothing to do with availability. Apple's security systems trigger
re-verification after events like a password change, a new device
signing in, or unusual account activity, independent of whether iCloud's
services are running normally. Being asked to verify is a security
measure working as intended, not a symptom of an outage, and it resolves
through Apple's own account recovery flow rather than by waiting.

The practical shape of depending on iCloud, personally or through an app
built on it, is that most reported problems are local: a full account,
a setting switched off on one device, or a security check triggered by
something unrelated to Apple's infrastructure. Ruling those out first is
what actually narrows down whether something is genuinely wrong on
Apple's side.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is iCloud down right now?

Check the board above; it reflects our own probes against iCloud from all five of our regions, refreshed every couple of minutes and confirmed across two regions before this page would call it down.

### My photos or files are not syncing but this page shows iCloud up. What should I check?

Check the device's own iCloud settings and available storage first, since these cause far more sync trouble than an outage. An account over its storage limit silently stops syncing new content, a toggle switched off for a specific app, and a device that has not connected to wifi in a while will all look identical to a platform problem from the user's side.

### Does an iCloud outage affect apps that use iCloud for storage or sign-in?

It can, since third-party apps built on iCloud for file storage, key-value data, or Sign in with Apple depend on the same backend as Apple's own apps. An application reporting sync failures or sign-in errors during a period this page shows as down is very likely experiencing the same incident, not a coincidence in its own code.

### Is Apple's System Status page the same as this one?

No. Apple's page reports what Apple has confirmed internally, across dozens of services including iCloud, the App Store, and Apple Music, at a level of detail no outside probe can match. This page reports what our own probes measured against iCloud specifically, from outside Apple's infrastructure, on a fixed schedule, whether or not Apple has posted an update yet.

### I am locked out and being asked to verify my Apple ID. Is that related to an outage?

Almost never. Apple's security systems can require re-verification after a password change, a new device, or unusual sign-in activity, entirely independent of whether iCloud's own services are healthy. Completing the verification through Apple's account recovery flow resolves it; it is not something an outage caused or a status page will explain.
