As of August 2026: 50 monitors checked every 5 minutes, with HTTP, port, ping, keyword, SSL, and DNS checks, 3 months of history, one basic status page, and up to 5 integrations. No SMS or voice credits, and no team seats.
That monitor count is the headline. Fifty free monitors is five times what most competitors give away, and for a personal fleet of sites it is usually the end of the conversation. What does Better Stack's free plan include?
As of August 2026: 10 monitors plus heartbeat checks, one status page, and email and Slack alerts. The fast 30-second intervals, SMS, and phone-call alerting sit in the paid plans. The free tier is smaller than UptimeRobot's on raw count, but it belongs to a wider platform: incident management, on-call scheduling, and log ingestion live in the same product.
How do the paid plans compare?
As of August 2026, UptimeRobot's paid ladder: Solo at $9/month brings 60-second checks, 12 months of history, and 3 status pages with a custom domain; Team at $35/month covers 100 monitors at 30-second checks with white-label status pages; Scale at $65/month reaches 15-second checks. Annual billing discounts each tier.
Better Stack prices differently: monitors come in blocks of 50 at $25/month ($21 on annual billing), and access for teammates is sold per responder seat at $34/month ($29 annually). Paid plans carry unlimited phone and SMS alerts, and the incident tooling - escalation policies, on-call calendars - is the reason the seats cost what they do.

Which one should you pick?
Pick UptimeRobot if the job is watching many endpoints on a small budget. The free tier covers a lot, the Solo tier is cheap, and the product does not ask you to adopt a workflow - it pings, it emails, it stays out of the way.
Pick Better Stack if downtime triggers a process rather than a person. When an alert should wake the on-call engineer, escalate if ignored, and end in a postmortem, you are buying the platform, not the pinger - and Better Stack's free tier lets a small team try that workflow before paying for seats.
The honest failure mode of each: UptimeRobot at scale becomes a wall of monitors with alerting you have outgrown; Better Stack for a personal site is a paging system for an audience of one.
